Balcony security mesh - any advice?

Hello, we are about to move into a high rise flat Sad. Not ideal with kids, but beggars can't be choosers. The balcony is causing me quite a lot of anxiety, so I am looking at adding a mesh to make it feel a bit more secure.

Has anybody here done this? If so, can you talk me through it? Thanks so much!

The mesh you usually see on balconies is flimsy nylon stuff aimed at keeping birds out rather than children in. You’ll need a proper installation where heavy duty steel wire is bolted into the surrounding fabric of the building, like this: www.firstfence.co.uk/1-8m-high-656-twin-mesh-security-fencing?gclid=Cj0KCQiAw9qOBhC-ARIsAG-rdn7PKqdwowbZoDpUP_K9CAIZB6MWeaXgtvCjTxbJaNvU1lafsRYtRQ4aAssdEALw_wcB
The council may be able to install this for you if you have a genuine safety concern (such as a special needs child) or direct you to an installer on their contractor list.

Otherwise, the cheapest and safest option is really a baby gate over the balcony door so that you can have it open for aid in the summer without the children being able to get out there unsupervised.
