Renovation insurance - doesn’t cover anything?

We are starting a renovation next week including some refurbishment and a ground floor extension. We will be living in the property throughout. I’m trying to sort out insurance but the quotes so far are really high and don’t cover contents at all and have a £1k excess which makes it almost pointless? Renovation plan was £££ and won’t cover us for subsidence as our area is high risk for it, even though our house does not suffer from it. Our current insurer won’t cover us. Any recommendations of a good broker or insurer we can use?

I was in the same boat when we did our extension and I was surprised how difficult it was to get insurance. After a lot of googling and calling around we settled on AXA via Home Protect. It did exclude accidental damage, excess was £500 + conditional builders own liability.
