Can anyone recommend a Chimney sweep in north london? Also looking to have a wood burner installed.

This guy installed our wood burner a few years ago, and does the annual chimney sweep - seems decent and honest to us and the price was competitive when we originally looked into it.

Also, he’s called Mr Burns, which is the best name for someone in his profession.

He’s in south Hertfordshire but if you are in north north London he might cover your area?

Thanks for the link - I did message him and he got back to me today Smile He does not cover my area but I did get a direct message recommendation www.Sootyandsweeps.co.uk

Did you install a wood burner? If you did was it worth it? I have central heating but would love a fire - hubby thinks it might be a waste of money

Oh great! Smile We did have him install a wood burner (we also have central heating), and it’s absolutely lovely in winter. It did feel expensive initially, especially with having to line the chimney. I guess it was a bit of a luxury/treat, but it does feel like it really makes the sitting room feel homely/special.

We get half a ton of logs delivered in one go and stack them up in the garage, which is loads more cost efficient than buying lots of little bags of logs.

Only thing recently is that DH has now got eco guilt about it, because of the evidence about domestic wood burners contributing to pollution, so it hasn’t been on as much this winter (although it also hasn’t been that cold to justify lighting it either).
