So, I was recommended a chartered surveyor (by a future neighbour) for a snagging survey on a new build house. The guy has 40 years experience which is great, but some of his reaction are a bit weird (or so I think). When I send him the first enquiry he responded with "I can do snagging lists but most developers ignore them!!" And when I asked about a Thermal Heat Loss survey, he said "If it is a new house, it should meet the new thermal standards. It is the balance of heating and ventilation which creates healthy living conditions."
So what do I make of it? I appreciate that it "should" meet the standards, just like it "should" be in perfect condition, but that's why I am asking for a snagger. Does anyone have any experience with Thermal Heat Loss surveys, is it a waste of money for new build houses?
