What order to do these improvements?

I want to do the following home improvements. Is this the correct order to do the work?

I googled and was surprised it is (mostly) recommended to do carpets before painting. But what about everything else:

Install Window Shutters
Sand internal doorframes
Paint doorframes
New internal doors
New front door
New stair bannisters
New carpet
Paint walls

I think you need to do the doors and door frames before the painting. They can need a lot of making good.

Put in the new doors, front door, shutters and bannisters, then decorate and carpets last.

Install Window Shutters
Sand internal doorframes
Paint doorframes
New internal doors
New front door
New stair bannisters
New carpet
Paint walls

Sanding is going to be messy - so do that first
Installing handrail will be a bit messy - but paint the wall first
Painting afterward to retouch
Gloss door frames
Carpet last but when wooden skirting and door frames is dry

Why would you lay carpet after painting walls?!

Volterra · 29/12/2021 09:45

Personally I would in case of a paint accident which is unlikely and should be fine if carpet properly covered but does happen and horrible if it goes on new carpet.

Being more awake now I agree with ivycake44’s list.

Thanks all.
So doors before carpet? But new carpet might be different pile height to existing one?

@LondonGrimmer

Why would you lay carpet after painting walls?!
In case of paint splashes.?
LondonGrimmer · 03/01/2022 22:20

Ignore my earlier post! I meant why would you lay carpet before you paint walls Blush

Start with the messiest job first & work forwards, leaving all the decorating & new carpets to last. It is easier to get someone in for a block of work than bits here & there.

Surely new carpet after painting walls? 🤔

It’s only a minor job then to shave off some of door at bottom....definately lay carpet last
