Renting before buying - furniture storage

Hi all,
I’m going through a divorce and have to sell the family home in the New Year. I could buy him out but the house is too big and I need a fresh start.
I’ve seen some houses pop up on the market that I like the look of but they’ve sold pretty quickly and, obviously, mine wasn’t on the market anyway. There hasn’t been a similar house for a couple of months.
I don’t want to be rushed into buying a house that I don’t really want so was thinking of renting for 6 months to a year so I could jump at any suitable house as soon as it came up. Chances are - with the settlement - I will be able to be mortgage free.
I am wondering about furniture storage though as I probably wouldn’t want to take all of my furniture to a rented property. Has anyone used a furniture storage company before? What was it like and was it expensive?

Unless they are irreplaceable it’s rarely worth paying for furniture storage as you pay so much over a year that you could just buy what’s needed later.

If downsizing, maybe it’s the time to downsize how much furniture, and just take to rental what you actually like and need, and sell on the other bits.
