What colour with Silver crushed velvet sofas?

As above. We move house in March (hopefully 🙃) and we currently have only a year old crushed velvet silver sofas. If they were newish I would have sold them and brought something more adaptable but we can’t afford to change them so we’re stuck with them.. currently my living room is white, silver/grey with chrome/silver decor - but now I have children and life is a little more colourful so that’s what I want to add.

But I’m struggling to Ben find any images online that aren’t blush pink! I don’t want blush pink.

Colour for what? the walls?

JanglyBeads · 27/12/2021 00:46

Primrose yellow? Lilac? Sage green?

Lots of colours would work

gettingto · 27/12/2021 00:47

and you don't need to stick to a 2 colour palette

RoseValleyRambles · 27/12/2021 00:47

Hot pink, dark blue, or forest green accessories and rug. White walls, unless you fancy colour there too.

@gettingto sorry, I don’t plan to paint the new house if I can help it. I want to stick to wall art, soft furnishings/decor to add colour rather than paint. I like the options to change up scene regularly and easily if I need or want to Grinq

I would just use a range of colours that compliment each other

gettingto · 27/12/2021 00:54

You could do navy & a lighter blue with sage green or mustard

Monty27 · 27/12/2021 01:03

Citrus colours
Orange, yellow and lime springs to mind

Dontlookdownmuch · 27/12/2021 07:30

Can you paint the sofas? Have a look at chalk paint.

What?????? Paint a velvet sofa?!?!?!?!?! That is not going to end well for anyone sitting on it surely.

Teal

You can paint velvet using chalk paint - go look up you tube

I think you could pretty much go with anything with silver sofas?

I'm a bit OTT with colours, but I have white sofas (by accident, they were second hand - I also keep thinking about changing them and then can't bear the prospect of spending several grand to buy new ones of a similar quality), so I have navy, teal and bright pink cushions, and then things like a multicoloured batik patchwork quilt so it's not too matchy, as well as a painting in the style of Leonid Afremov which does the same.

LaLaFlottes · 27/12/2021 08:57

We have grey sofas and carpet and we chose yellow for our curtains and blinds. It’s a fabric which has grey through it and the yellow is quite a traditional tone rather than overly bright.

I would use lots of dark jewel colours - blues, reds and greens for a quite dramatic effect. I think silver with white walls could look quite bland. Depends what kind of look you want to go for though.

DappledThings · 27/12/2021 20:01

I can't think of a colour that wouldn't go with silver, it's completely neutral

SoonbeSpringtime · 27/12/2021 20:24

Silver is very bright on the eye so I'd use a dark teal, murky mustard and/or kind of khaki green as opposed to a vibrant shade.

I would look at Designers Guild for inspiration. They have silver fabrics and show how they build up a room with other colours. I think navy and blurs would be great. I would consider floral cushions and pick out the colour in a rug. I might leave the walls white for now. I think you could also use shades of bluey greens. I feel a few exciting fabrics in small pops would really transform the sofas. I am a huge fan of Designers Guild fabrics and especially their cushions!
