Has anyone got any pearls of wisdom on suitable bedroom flooring. It's a flat so someone underneath and I don't want hard/harsh/noisy or carpet. I need easy clean, but hard wearing and comfy underfoot. I'm out of the loop on flooring.

I think you'll need something like these...

Why don't you want carpet!

We have just had our bedroom carpeted, the rest of the house is wood gloor but I always think carpet in a bedroom is cosy.

I'd love hover shoes. Carpets get way too mucky way too quickly with pets

carpet here nice and cosy but then my cats are not allowed in the bedrooms so the carpet stays clean the other alternative is something like karndean which being vinyl is soft underfoot and easy to clean but more expensive than carpet

We have block parquet, oiled rather than varnished: because it’s natural wood with a natural finish it always feels warm underfoot and it absorbs footfall - when we moved in the whole place was laminate floors and we could hear the other walking about upstairs from the room below whereas now we absolutely can’t.

You might get the same effect with amtico or vinyl - though I personally don’t like the way it looks or feels under bare feet.

Thanks, I'm going to have to go in a shop and do a touchy feely test aren't I? I was thinking about the noise aspect and the clean aspect but not about the feel on the bare feet aspect.

Have you checked the terms of your Lease?

Some some stipulate you must have carpets.

How about Flotex?

Noisy is hard flooring. You cannot avoid it. There are softer natural fibres such as jute which are carpets. Or buy a big rug. What is the floor now? Floorboards? New modern boards?

If you get hard flooring also invest in a rug from ruggable. You can machine wash them and dogs love them. My neighbour has done this with oak flooring and it’s stunning and cosy.
