New doors and woodwork advice on painting please

So have had two new internal doors fitted. Both oak veneer. I don't plan on painting the doors but just treating with oil. I've seen osmo oil recommended but as ever it appears I have to choose which one. Any advice?

I also have new door frames which I want to paint white. The door frames are completely bare wood do I need to prime them or anything first?

For the ones you will paint - yes, prime with a 2 in 1 primer and undercoat. I have done all our doors in the last couple of years and would recommend a water-based eggshell over the traditional gloss used on woodwork, any day!

If the door frames are solid timber (as opposed to MDF or similar), you need to make sure any knots are sealed to prevent orangey-coloured marks showing through the finished paint.

You can get specific "knotting solution" for this purpose, but personally I'd just give the whole thing a coat of Zinsser B-I-N shellac-based primer before using your top coat of preference.
