Velux in conservatory roof?

Hoping I can draw on mumsnets collective wisdom! Can anyone tell me how much difference it makes to the light level if you have a velux window in a tiled conservatory roof? I live in an old cottage type house and the current polycarb roof lets in loads of light to the room next door (but also makes it crap to regulate the temperature in the conservatory). Trying to work out if it's worth the extra money to have one fitted. Any advice or experience gratefully received! Thanks

I know nothing but, I do have 2 Velux windows, albeit, they are ancient.
I wouldn't have thought a polycarbonate roof would be robust/deep enough to accommodate a Velux.

Thanks @wingedharpy sorry I wasn't clear. The whole lot is being redone and I'm trying to work out if it's worth having a velux in for the extra light. New roof will be one of the fake tiled ones.

We did this and have three velux windows in the roof. It makes a massive difference and the room is much brighter that if we had just had a solid roof. If you can afford it, I would recommend it 🙂
