Anyone completing this week?

I don't think we are but I am pretending that it might happen. Just waiting for 2 or 3 bits of info then we are a-go go. Is anyone else still hoping to move before Christmas?

It might happen OP. Ours dragged in for 20 weeks no chain. Last Friday we went for a final look round before exchange (vendor has moved out) then we were told it was exchange day. Then our solicitor rang to hassle us for yet more money and at 4pm we’d completed 😂

We move on Monday. Fingers crossed for you!

After a bit of a rollercoaster, we are hopefully competing tomorrow 🤞🏼

PenguinWings · 15/12/2021 11:39

We really, really want to. Our solicitor says that she can't see why not but I'm suspicious that our vendors will want to wait until after Christmas. We've been waiting since March and if we'd have known it would take this long we would have pulled out in September.

Livedandlearned · 15/12/2021 13:00

I did really want to, but it's not going to happen.

Literally everything is ready but our solicitor never ever updates us. I've sent her an email to ask what we need to do next but we may as well wait til the new year now as there are a few jobs that would be more simple to do before moving in.

Still pisses me off that our solicitor just stays quiet instead of keeping me updated.

We really wanted to but It probably won't happen now because of our useless solicitor. Xmas Sad pushed the mortgage through after so many issues from the lender just losing and forgetting our application. Got that yesterday and found out our solicitor hasn't chased enquiries from weeks ago. Living with family and absolutely fucking furious.

ALbigbump · 15/12/2021 17:57

Also desperately hoping to, but it’s all gone quiet again. We were told to transfer the funds yest to be in a position to go when everyone ready. DH and I aren’t speaking. Soooo pissed off

Livedandlearned · 15/12/2021 19:47

It would have been much better for us to be moving now as we have more time, in January we will have a lot less time, fucking fuckers

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 15/12/2021 19:49

We've had confirmation we won't be moving until the 5th at the earliest. Fuck saaaaaaaake. Just after were both back at work, we have no effing time. Honestly. Angry

whyohwhyohwhyohwhywhy · 15/12/2021 20:59

Yes the first week in January will be a nightmare for is too work wise, let alone moving into a property with no carpets, no oven, let alone giving the kids approx 2 days in old school and then switching.
I'm trying not to think about it too much and just keeping my eye on the prize... Bigger picture bigger picture bigger picture

I keep thinking new year, new house, and we can do it al properly, getting anything done this close to Christmas will be a rush job and I'll probably regret it.

I have to tell myself this in an attempt to stop checking my emails for any news

CheltenhamLady · 16/12/2021 15:46

Why are solicitors so uncontactable?

We should exchange before Christmas but it has all gone very quiet.....

ALbigbump · 16/12/2021 16:01

Same with us. Apparently our seller’s solicitor is the only one holding everything up now Angry

Starseeking · 16/12/2021 16:26

I would love to, but been told by vendors solicitor that my vendor needs Christmas and New Year to think over the sale of her house (she's been there over 45 years), so I've been bumped to exchanging and completing no earlier than the second week of January - grrrr!!!

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 16/12/2021 18:36

They've come back to us and said the 10th now. I've gone back and said no absolutely not, has to be the first week. We agreed this with the estate agent yesterday so why is their solicitor suggesting the 2nd week Xmas Angry why are they so useless?!

Swoops123 · 16/12/2021 20:32

Last week we were told we would this Friday latest, even if that meant exchange and completion on the same day, yesterday was told my buyer wants to wait until new year, so angry. Now living surrounded by boxes with no furniture as the ex has taken it all, DD just returned from uni, missing my partner like crazy he only has a 1bed flat, so can't all go there. Never wanted to not have Christmas so much before

WheelieBinPrincess · 16/12/2021 20:42

God I feel for you all. I can appreciate how lucky we were now but I truly thought we were going to be so ending Christmas in the Premier Inn this time last week.

whyohwhyohwhyohwhywhy · 16/12/2021 22:00

oh nightmare!
well i havent heard a dicky boo today or yesterday. I can only assume everyone is busy with the people trying to sort it tomorrow,. I cant decide whether that is reasonable or whether to push anyway
