Lockdown affecting house move?

We've sold the house subject to contract, ready to move to a vacant property, what will happen if we go into lockdown/covid restrictions again?

You’ll likely be legally allowed to move, it’s been “allowed” since the second lockdown.

You might struggle for removal companies; and you’ll likely be advised to do simultaneous exchange and completion, to minimise the chances of someone getting Covid and being unable to leave.

But you should still be able to move. I researched it all a lot last month; but we’re now in! All the best to you.

I moved in February this year and everything ran smoothly.

I'm worrying about the same, only hiring a van to do ours so got everything crossed it still goes ahead. Our vendors solicitor is rubbish to dread to think what they will be like working from home

You can still move in lockdown. My parents did in second lockdown but they had to be out the house while removal men were in there and they provided a plan with labelled boxes so they knew where to put stuff.

I've been pondering this too. Our moving date is January 12th.

We moved in Feb 21 and by then everything was moving despite lockdown.

We never met our solicitor in person.

But removers all working as normal.

I moved in July 2020. It was fine.

I don't recall a time since the start of lockdown 1 where you have not been allowed to move.

If we do get another lockdown it is very unlikley that it will be as stringent as the one in April/May 2020.

You were able to move in the last lock down so I imagine the same if there's another.
