Kitchen Worktops

We are on the hunt for a new kitchen. We are going for a modern handleless kitchen in either beige ('cashmere') or white with a matte finish.

We are torn between the worktops. We have narrowed it down to three:

Ultra white: bright white
Capri: white with subdued marble effect
Belagio: white with loud marble effect

Any advice/recommendations?

Capri for me. White worktop with white units is too much. White with cashmere works. I have similar. White marble without it being overpowering works with white units in my view.

When choosing units/worktop take account of how much direct sun you get. Worktops can be blindingly white in direct sun but brighten up a kitchen that faces North.

@tizerorfizz thank you so much. How do you like your cashmere units? Our room is south facing but quite narrow. I cant decided whether the cashmere will add to the narrowness and the white might make it look bigger. I take on board your blinding comments and think I'm leaning to white cupboards and the capri top.

Our kitchen is in a London flat and is relatively small. It has lots of windows and is north west facing. I like the cashmere there as it’s a warmer colour. The flat has white walls though and white work surfaces so is cool overall! The floor is wood. The original worktops were wood but they are impossible to stop from marking. The white quartz is wonderful!

However with a narrow kitchen I would probably go white with the lighter veined marble look.

I'm going for marble quartz from here: www.geminiworktops.com/gemini-quartz

Apparently they supply wren but are cheaper but no idea if this is true!

We have always got our kitchens and worktops from the same supplier. Yes, I guess we could find cheaper but if the work top company has an issue with the kitchen it’s down to you to sort it out. If they supply the whole lot it’s down to them. Is the saving in a small kitchen worth it?

@summersazz thanks. Do you know anyone who has used Gemini? I keep seeing their ads pop up. Since seeing your message I have ordered some samples. Do they come and template the worktop and then deliver and fit them?

Yes they definitely template and think they fit - I'd have to check the quote but I'm not at home at the mo. They were very helpful on the phone though so maybe worth giving a call tomorrow.

SummerSazz · 12/12/2021 18:14

And sorry, no don't know anyone who has used them I'm afraid.

I'd go for Capri too. I think the ultra white is too white and the Bellagio will look dated quite quickly. The Capri is more timeless.

Thirder · 12/12/2021 18:19

I just got a subtle marble quartz.
I love the look of the long veined marble but I think it will date faster as it seems to be popular right now. Maybe I'm wrong and maybe just thought the subtle one was safer! But I still love it. Its silestone ariel.

Corian has served us really well.

Luckystar1 · 12/12/2021 18:39

I think it depends on the ‘type’ of look you are going for.

Personally I think all white would look super contemporary and modern, particularly if styled properly. I actually think it would be the least likely to date as it’s timeless.

But it is a bold statement to make and I can understand that it’s not for everyone!

Dasher789 · 12/12/2021 19:57

@luckystar1 ahh how do I decide Grin
