Who lives in a house like this?

So much wasted space, it’s stupid, just think how much you would have to pay for cleaners to keep it clean, there has to be a better way to spend money.

SparklePopRampage · 11/12/2021 19:20

The only redeeming feature is the piano, nothing else is natural or authentic and it’s a blight on an otherwise beautiful piece of countryside.

@JamieFrasersBigSwingingKilt

New money.

I hate it when people just say 'new money' it's so horrible and snobbish.

Some people start their own successful businesses, train hard to become an athlete. They can choose to decorate their house however they want to.

I respect these people a lot more than those who grew up with privilege and are from 'old money'.

GrannytoaUnicorn · 11/12/2021 19:29

From the outside when I first saw it, I thought it was my local Carvery

Usuallyhappycamper · 11/12/2021 19:40

Someone who likes upskirting. They have made quite a feature of the window in the floor. There is only 1 loo per floor on the two living area floors. Upstairs it is all ensuits, so would have to go through a bedroom. Surely this limits the party house appeal?

JamieFrasersBigSwingingKilt · 11/12/2021 22:59

@ILoveToads I respect self-made people more than you could imagine. My Dad is one. But old money would never buy nor furnish a house in this style. Good taste is not on display here, though a lot of money is.

trickytrudy · 12/12/2021 08:05

Usual. Everything extremely expensive, most of it horrible.

Countrybumpus · 12/12/2021 09:48

Wow a lot of hate on this thread and many of the usual comments are of no great surprise.

It does not strike me as a footballers house. Given the value of the property itself and what looks like at least several million pounds worth of cars my guess is somebody very high up in the music industry or a vastly successful stockbroker. If it was a footballer they would need to be at the very top level and they would probably have made the press for that car collection.

Ubiquery · 12/12/2021 09:54

I don't understand this thread. It's hardly the most offensive property on RightMove.

DingADingDong · 12/12/2021 10:02

People like to mock things they can't have @Countrybumpus
I don't know anyone who buys a house judged on someone else's furniture or decor ?
Love the pool and stables, so I'd buy it just for them given a chance

I’ve certainly been in one footballer’s house that strongly resembled that one, down to the shiny, boxy, grey design— but the one I was in had an enormous aquarium in the hall. I can’t speak to the value of the cars, because cars make me glaze over with boredom, but it doesn’t seem impossible to me .that it’s the house of a top-flight footballer. The big-time equine stuff may make that a nit less likely, unless inherited from a previous owner.

I think for me it’s bafflement that, with so much money, this is what you chose to buy or build — a house that looks so oppressive and banal.

There is no "hate". There is scorn and derision at the style and expense of the house.

I think it's a dreadful, ugly house devoid of any kind of warmth or comfort. And the people who own(ed) that house would loathe mine, which is fair enough.

LizziesTwin · 12/12/2021 10:38

It’s in all the papers as they are promoting it as the most viewed house on RightMove.

Flingingmelon · 12/12/2021 10:54

Is it my imagination or are all the sofas just a tiny bit too close to the coffee tables?

So I'm guessing a footballer who has bruises just below his knees all the time.

DoryisinCuba · 12/12/2021 13:35

@dreamkitchenhelp

Ha ha I quite like it...
Me too Grin. It’s not perfect but I wouldn’t say no!
SW1amp · 12/12/2021 13:41

That’s the cost of 52 acres within a mile of a tube station and an hours commute of London…

The same amount of house and land somewhere like Ascot would probably be millions more

Absolutely hideous interior design though
Needs another few million to make the decor less offensively brown

hotfroth · 12/12/2021 14:00

When I think of what they could have built on that lovely plot of land...

There's no accounting for some people, is there?

Tootyfilou · 12/12/2021 14:14

Not a book or piece of art in sight.

I’m intrigued by the large grey sofa’d seating area at the foot of the bed in the master bedroom. I mean, I appreciate it’s nice to have a comfortable seat in a bedroom, but this looks as if it’s designed for a business meeting. In the bedroom. At the foot of the bed. It puts me uncomfortably in mind of Tudor courtiers watching queens give birth.
guinnessandblackcurrant · 12/12/2021 14:58

@Isausernameavailable

House is horrible, but I'd buy it for the horsey stuff
That's what I said Grin
londonmummy1966 · 12/12/2021 15:31

If you don't mind having an outside pool you could have this instead. Although with the change from £15m you could probably build a new pool house...

Skinnytailedsquirrel · 12/12/2021 15:40

It's completely soul-less. The cinema is hilarious...like being on a plane and the glass stair case is just awful.

Looks like they have just bought everything from a catalogue.

SeasonFinale · 12/12/2021 15:44

It's grim. If I had £15million I could find a lot lot nicer.

Ohwhere2021 · 13/12/2021 17:57

Second house posted by London’s ummm to me is also grim!

Ohwhere2021 · 13/12/2021 18:02

My idea of modern luxury and much cheaper!
