Porcelain paving job - price?

Hi everyone,

We are looking to have approximately 95 sq metres of porcelain paving laid and have been quoted roughly £7k for labour only.

I thought it seemed quite high. Does the Mumsnet hive mind consider it a fair price?

We will be getting more quotes but with the building trades incredibly busy at the moment we've not had anyone else get back to us yet, so are just looking for guidance as to whether this is a realistic price or not.

For context, we are in Wales....

Thanks for any thoughts 😆

I am looking to get a new patio (20sqm)but have given up trying to get a quote for now. I had considered porcelain paving. I rang a landscaper and as soon as I mentioned porcelain paving I swear he said "I can't fit porcelain" but then immediately corrected himself and said he was way too busy to give me a quote. Someone else came round and wanted £3K to fit ordinary slabs, he said porcelain paving would be "a lot more" and told me not to have porcelain as they are outside tiles and need to be laid like tiles so the labour is much more expensive. So maybe your quote isn't actually that high. Impressed you have 95sqm by the way.

The £3K was supply and fit - slabs costing about £70 sqm.
