A question on renting

If a property is advertised as available from x date, is there any liklihood a landlord would accept a tenancy from a later date?
DS is looking to move in January but is there any point in viewing a place that's available now or any time before January?

It will depend totally on how much demand there is for the property and how sound a potential tenant your son is ( income, track record of paying rent consistently in previous tenancies etc).

I would think there probably aren't many people looking to move at this time of year, so the landlord may be willing to consider a later start date. Don't ask, don't get!

If he can afford it could he offer to meet the landlord halfway?

Thanks. He's got a good job/ income and good track record of renting. Has found it difficult to view in a city 2 hours away while working, he WFH.
So, worth a try then. He could compromise and pay for a couple of weeks before moving. Hopefully the time of year might work in his favour.
