Property information form - how long?

We’re now 6 weeks into our purchase and my solicitor told me today that our vendors have not completed the Property Information Form correctly (just returned it finally last week) and that they have had to send it back. Vendors have also not provided any paperwork.

Is this usual? It took me half an hour to do mine when we sold! Should we be worried about this and what happens now? I can only assume it will delay things.

Half an hour? Iirc mine took hours and hours. It depends how many bits of paper you have to find/research/request. I remember when I tried to buy/sell last year it was pretty much a full time job for 3 months. Depends entirely on size, age and state of your house.

Ours took us about half an hour too. We knew or didn't know answers and we had all paperwork together, mostly scanned and filed.

It did take 3 weeks to get theirs back too, and most of it was a don't know...

When I did mine a few months ago I just sat down and got it done. Yes it was a lot of work (lived there 31yrs and had lots of work done so loads of receipts, records, plans etc) but the sooner it is done the sooner the process can get underway. Think it took me two evenings.
Sounds to me like they are stalling for some reason or are just being lazy. It doesn't bode well for the rest of the process.

Ours took several hours to complete, including looking for dates of various works, certificates for gas, stove, building work, electric installations, double glazing, boiler service reports, notices regarding planned local developments etc. We also had to chase the glazing company for the FENSA certificate so maybe they are doing similar or getting stuff inspected retrospectively. I'm amazed you could do it in 30 mins. It is 18 pages as I recall.

It's not a great sign all the same.

It is not unusual for vendors to do the form slowly or badly
