Moving to Pontcanna (Cardiff) with kids?

We are planning to relocate to Cardiff and considering Pontcanna as a possible area to move to. We have young children so would need to find school places. I was wondering if anyone who knows the area could advise if it's a nice place to raise kids in general and answer a few questions?

The English medium primary schools look good and the secondary (Fitzalan) seems…ok? From Google I saw it had an excellent inspection report but a pupil got stabbed?

I know there is always movement in cities but do lots of people move out when their kids are in primary/year 5?

Is there much anti social behaviour from being near the stadium on a match day or the centre of town on a Saturday night? Or much crime in general?

Is there any issues with flooding? I’ve seen some epic pictures of Pontcanna fields flooded and I know that’s not an issue in itself but a bit worried about what could happen if things get worse with climate change? Is that a reasonable worry?

Any advice welcome!

Dont live in the area but have good friends who do.

I've never known there to be flooding in the area, other than on the fields by the river - half the point of all the parkland by the river is to store flood water.

It's a pretty nice area all round, and there isn't a particular crime problem from what I know - no more than any area near a city centre at least!

The biggest problem seems to be finding a parking space sometimes....

Lovely area, nice houses, lots of places to go for a coffee etc. English medium Primary schools are not great (unless you go to church), Fitzalan is good for bright kids, and those that need lots of help.

Lots of people move to Penarth from Pontcanna, schools are part of the reason.

Don’t worry about flooding, or antisocial behaviour.

As for raising kids, it’s great. Lots of families, the park is wonderful, and easy walk into town or along the river. We moved to Pontcanna from London when I was pg. kids are now teens and we live in Llandaff, for the bigger garden and the schools.

Thanks!
bit worried about the schools now, don't know where I got the idea they were good (my wishful thinking probably!)

@HelloDulling
We did look at Llandaff but I thought the secondary school didn't seem very good
