I don't have wood in my bedrooms (did in a previous property) but my allergies were noticeably improved when I changed the carpet to wood in the living area.

I do have wood downstairs and brush it daily

I was going originally for wood, but in a moment of insight (and remembering how I didn’t always wipe up spillages and left my room a complete pigsty as a Teenager) I went for indestructible laminate and do not regret this.

... Wood effect laminate is also more cushioned then wood which is good if their room is above yours.

Wood effect laminate.

I would not want carpet in my teenagers' bedrooms!

We have Wood effect vinyl planks in all our bedrooms, used to be laminate but we swapped them all a couple of years ago.
It started when DD developed Asthma and someone suggested it might help so we did her room and then DS wanted the same and then we liked it so much we changed the other bedrooms too.
It really did help DDs asthma and allergies too

Sounds like laminate is the way to go then, great if it helps with allergies and asthma, will have to clean under the bed more for dust bunnies though.
