Thames Water suspected water leak

Smart meter from Thames Water says I may have a suspected water leak due to high usage. They say (due to leak being under a certain threshold) it’s likely to be an internal leak and I would need to pay for someone to see if there is a leak inside the property before they are prepared to send out their own engineer to check if the leak is outside and hence their responsibility. I can’t see any evidence leaks inside.

Has anyone experienced this please? I’d rather they come and check first if it’s their responsibility in the event the leak is outside before having to pay for someone myself.

They also dug up the whole road not so long ago and this makes me more suspicious that the leak is outside.

Turn off your internal stopcock off and see if the meter outside is still turning.

If it is you have a leak somewhere between the meter and your internal stopcock - if that is the case, push for them to come and help you identify where it is.

If it doesn’t then turn off all appliances and tap stopcocks etc, then turn them on one by one and see if you can identify where the leak might be.
