Side extension or loft conversion first?

Hello!

We are buying a bigger place soon. We will be extending onto the side- they did have planning permission for it all which has now expired.

I am obsessed with loft conversions and want to do ours (the whole thing including the new extension loft space.

Does anyone know if we should convert the existing loft before we extend?

Or extend first then convert the loft?

I can't think straight!!

Can someone please explain the order to do it as I know building regs come into it all too.

Do you mean a double storey extension or single? I would make sure you can get planning again for the side extension, then try to use the same company for both and do them at the same time (finances permitting).

We used same builders to do both. They were keen to do outside first, get us out of the ground and new kitchen. That could all be done without too much disruption inside as there was side access. They didn’t have to come inside. Then inside, more dust…).
