Hi all, I bought a Howdens matt navy kitchen and it is so difficult to keep clean - it's as if finger and water marks sink into the door panels.
When the sun hits the doors it just makes me want to cry !!! Ive tried everything, soapy hot water - glass cleaner, degreaser cleaners (gentle ones) it need cleaning literally every time some one opens the fridge or a drawer - does anyone have any tips please ?

I had Matt cashmere handless cupboards and you couldn't see fingerprint in normal light but boy did they show up in strong, direct sunlight. I used to put a blob of neat Fairy Platinum ( has to be Platinum) directly on it and leave for about 10 mins then spray with warm soapy water and wipe off. Used to work for me.

Micro fibre cloths. The ones for glass are best

I did try it with regular Fairy liquid and it didn't work hence why I was specific about the product name. Good luck.

My new cupboard doors are matt - not navy but still show up fingerprints in the sunlight.

I just use water on a microfibre cloth as the care instructions for mine say not to use too strong a cleaner.

I can manage to open all the handle less cupboards and drawers without touching the fronts - the rest of my household - not so much Confused

Did you find a solution? I am ready to rip off the kitchen!!

CutesyUserName · 02/07/2023 21:25

@glika Have you tried 'Elbow Grease' spray? As fingerprints are basically an oily residue, Elbow Grease degreasing spray should work.

My issue is the after-cleaning effect. It looks dirty because any liquid I use with a microfiber cloth still leaves "watermarks" either as lines or as the shape of my cleaning technique. Lesson learned: never going again for a Matt finish!

Howdens sell a cleaning spray for Matt cupboards. I have them but in a sort of stone colour and the finger prints drive me mad - this spray is the best I've found.

My island units are Matt black handless so understand your pain! The other units are lighter so a little more forgiving! The technique I’ve found works best is to spray down with flash sparkling kitchen spray which cuts through the grease, I wipe down with a wet kitchen cloth so as it to remove the spray residue, then I I buff up with a microfibre tea towel (Amazon) which is really absorbent. This works well for me.

Hi just a quick tip re Matt doors I tried everything to clean them and finally found the solution. Use a magic sponge NO soap and then mop off with micro fibre and when it sets finger prints are gone. Change your sponge regularly
