Living in Adswood

I am from Hong Kong and am going to move to Adswood next year. One thing concern to me is that the aircraft noise can be a problem, as suggested in home survey report. Is there anyone living there nearby and advise whether the aircraft noise problem is serious or not, or is the noise negligible?

Besides, I note that people are keeping saying to avoid Adswood. What are the reasons behind? Is it a nice place to live?

Adswood in Stockport? That’s not too bad for planes, they will fly over on final descent to the airport but they aren’t as low as in Cheadle/Heald Green which is where there is quite a lot of noise.

I don’t know Adswood area that well but I think it’s likely to vary according to which road you are in. The Adswood estate has a bad reputation, (for crime and antisocial behaviour) but we live in a very similar area of Stockport and absolutely love it. I think there’s lots of nice period houses in other parts of Adswood/Edgeley that people are buying to do up and it’s a bit of an ‘up and coming’ area. It’s close to town centre, main train station A6 and motorway so good for transport.

Stockport is a great place - we are very happy here Smile

I lived in Cheadle Hulme for twenty years and it's not that bad. I 'stopped' hearing them quite quickly.

Adswood is quite well situated.
