Refinishing reclaimed basketball court floor

The house we have just bought has said floor with all the markings on etc and it’s just not my bag, prefer a more traditional look. Thinking it’s probably a decent hardwood floor minus the markings so does anyone know how easy it is to remove them? would it need sanding etc?

Thank you!

It is probably maple, the finish is dependent on the age. It is totally possible to DIY sand and refinish but you would need to be pretty keen. It might be best to call in a professional.

Get a local expert to do it. My solid oak floor had been refinished by a DIYer and you could see ripples in it, where it wasn't even.

The tradesman got it beautiful in one day's work including resealing and had all the equipment to do it with practically no dust. £300 well spent.

You bought a house with a basketball court?
