New kitchen in North Yorks?

We are getting the money lined up for a new kitchen. Not sure what want but I quite fancy at least having a look in indecent showrooms etc. Budget will be 20 grand max for some appliances and cupboards, work tops and fitting.

Would anybody recommend anywhere? Or if national chains who is best?

Shop around. Lots of Mumsnetters say you must go to DIY kitchens. I got a quote from them but decided I wanted ply doors and ikea cabinets on the end. For me it was getting the style perfect rather than price driven to be honest . We got a design done with an independent concept planner and then got quotes based on that. Was so much easier that way. And a lot easier to compare the prices.

I would really recommend looking at local independent kitchen showrooms as well as the national chains.

We spent a long time planning our kitchen and certainly looked around and had several people design as quote for us. During the design process, the local kitchen showroom designer was invaluable and made lots of tweaks and suggestions that have really improved the layout and style of the finished design.

We are in the process of having our new kitchen fitted right now. The process is proving smooth and the installation top notch quality wise. We also have the benefit of knowing the company is a member of the KBSA so that have been vetted for quality and we have the benefit of the ConsumerCare Plus Scheme which covers our deposit, advanced payments, work-in-progress and a 6-year warranty.

These threads are littered with people having issues with installations from major chains. Definitely do your research before putting down a deposit.

Thanks, yes a local installer and designer really appeals. Is the budget ok for that? I don't want to go in and find they assume fifty grand minimum.

If I ever had the house to warrant a fabulous kitchen

Find them in Green Hammerton between York and Harrogate

I spent the night of my wedding in a restored Greek Revival listed property in the Yorkshire Dales. The kitchen had been done by Brian Ramwell Classic Interiors and it was absolutely perfect. When I win the Euromillions I will buy this house and the kitchen is a big part of it.

No idea of costs and whether it would fit your budget, but in the absence of a better idea I'd start here.

another vote for DIY kitchens their showroom is just outside pontefract and even if you dont like their kitchens it will give you some ideas as they have lots of small built kitchen displays we are very happy with our kitchen from there and 20k would get you a lot from them , and their units come ready assembled so less hassle when it comes to fitting
