Carpets - help !

I have a whole house to carpet ( living room, and bedrooms)

We use the house in the summer and holiday let it the rest of the time. It is an expensive property so I don't want to put rubbish quality down.

Kitchen , hall , downstairs loo & bathroom are being done in Karndean - that was easy !

There is ancient worn/stained /grim coloured 80:20 down at the moment. suspect it is more sensible to go polypropylene or should I go for commercial/heavy grade carpet, or stick with 80:20 ?
I am boggled at the choice.

I prefer the deep pile/velvet feel carpets as opposed to boucle or hard textured carpets - memories of trying to clean toddler vomit out of a berber type carpet we had at home at the time.

Local carpet firm said " leave it to us, we will put polyprop down everywhere, just pay us X thousand, we will worry about the rest" - which sounds easy but no doubt I will be paying for convenience. I also want to make an active choice .

I like the feel of Westex carpets which I have just been fondling in Carpetright but am still none the wiser if this is the best idea.

Has anyone got any recommendations ?
