@Indecisivelurcher looks fab, Glad it's really working well as a space

@PoshWatchShitShoes the front door is very smart

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 15/12/2021 18:14

@Indecisivelurcher

And here's how, fresh off my phone.

This looks amazing!

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 15/12/2021 18:30

@PoshWatchShitShoes

A house full of people. There must be about 30 tradesmen inside. Plasterers still MIA, but...

I'm in love with my new front door. Thank Christ for that.

Wish me luck for the staircase, which is being installed today too 😂

Love this door.

Can I ask what sort of stairs and balustrade you have gone for. We are moving our stairs and have quotes up for a basic set so far but need to decide soon what we are having

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 15/12/2021 18:32

I've spent £12K in two days and we haven't officially started yetShock

Good news is my beat up second car has been moved off the driveway to my mums house, the kitchen has been ordered and we are full into packing up now.

Bean bags ordered last night as 5 months on camping chairs was sounding more and more unbearable.

Hi, where is your front door from please?
Callmejudith · 16/12/2021 09:58

Decorator is doing the first coat of colour in the kitchen today - I am excited! I'm in the office today and out tonight so can't wait to see it in the morning

That final coat of paint makes all the difference! I hope it looks fab.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 16/12/2021 12:12

On my way to site... replacement island worktop has just been fitted and hopefully they're nearly done with the staircase 🙏

@Myfabby I had it made by a joiner.

@Sewfrickinamazeballs my tip is add the spend to a spreadsheet as you spend it. I didn't and it now takes me forever to reconcile 🤦🏼‍♀️ Quite traditional staircase, with wooden spindles and a varnished handrail. I'll post a photo when they're done 🤞

PoshWatchShitShoes · 16/12/2021 15:25

Picasso has packed his bags (he did a great job) and new worktop has been fitted 👏

The staircase guys are driving me potty, the plumbers has disappeared and we're hoping covid replacement plasterer will be on site on Saturday 🙏

Callmejudith · 16/12/2021 15:31

Yes on the spending front the best thing I did was to put the spreadsheet in Google Sheets so I could update on my phone in the shop!

However my spending on "incidentals" now we're almost done is completely out of control. I keep buying stuff like cushions, candles, serving tongs, table runners, shelves lol

Oh well done Picasso that looks fabulous. I love the yellow doors too

Have started a new job this week so haven’t been around much and I’m knackered!

But, worktops went in today, yey!! 🎉

Haven’t taken perfect photos as loads of boxes and furniture in the way but will try the ones I’ve got…

That has a very soothing symmetry to it. Our kitchen extension (see 2019 threads!) was so unsymmetrical, the weirdest shape. It made planning downlight positions very difficult. Whats happening above the range with the wooden framing?
PoshWatchShitShoes · 16/12/2021 16:27

Yay for shiny new worktops @LivingInaBuildingSite 🤩

@Callmejudith just panicked about yellow doors 😂 They're oak at the mo and I'm painting them off white. The windows are covered in plastic, so lighting is poor.

@WhereDoesThisToiletGo it's the frame for the mantle. Hopefully they'll get it finished, together with the cornice tomorrow

nomoneytree · 16/12/2021 18:11

Planning in today!! Cross your fingers for me!

Callmejudith · 16/12/2021 18:46

@PoshWatchShitShoes lol I thought that was a deliberate choice, I love a bit of yellow haha

We have half a kitchen and lighting! Quartz worktop coming on Monday. Definitely a 2 step forward day!!

@Callmejudith amazingly supportive as always! Thank you do much for this thread; it has been amazing! I wouldn't know any of you ladies if I fell over you in the street but I feel a bond! Thank you all so much. X

Classicblunder · 17/12/2021 07:43

Can I join you all?

Our extension is going to start in January - we are having a side return done to create an open plan kitchen diner. It's a semi so the plan is to put up a temporary wall and block off the building site so that we can stay put.

Very nervous about the noise and temporary kitchen side of things but we have a child in school so would need to rent somewhere very local (we don't have a car so can't drive him to school) if we moved out, it's difficult to find anything and what there is is like £3k a month!

Hello! Very similar situation here. Side return extension, double storey and a full house refurb to boot so we won't be able to cordon off an area. Also starting January, have a kid in school and will be staying put.

Welcome and good luck

whataboutbob · 17/12/2021 10:05

Looking good @MissFritton65. 3 ovens! You’re going to do some serious cooking! I like the dark units.

MissFritton65 · 17/12/2021 11:02

@whataboutbob 🤣 my husband is the cook! We actually had a new double oven delivered aswell but we couldn't get it to fit so sent it back!!

PoshWatchShitShoes · 17/12/2021 12:22

Looks fab @MissFritton65. Worktops make all the difference. Our kitchen looks nearly finished. Just handles and mantle...oh and cornice. Nearly done 😂

PoshWatchShitShoes · 17/12/2021 12:23

Today I'd just like to shout "WHERE THE FUCK IS THE PLASTERER AND PLUMBER???!"

These people are driving me potty.

With 100% confidence, we are not moving back in before Christmas. It looks like second week of January 😭
