Thanks for that, I have heard of them. Are you having problems though?
Any recommendations for South east stone/granite suppliers would be appreciated.

No problem with the stone supplier they have been fab. Just problems with getting the actual kitchen in so as they can come and template the worktop!

Nice pics @Indecisivelurcher must be so good to see the utility room coming on. Nothing happening until new year @LivingInABuildingSite. I went over to the flat today to shift some stuff into my lock up in preparation for my dump trip next week and took pics of the
kitchen. He’d started on 2 runs of units and has been levelling the floor and that was enough to lift my spirits. I’m resigned to not having tenants in there for the whole of this academic year now. While I’m at it I might as well complete some other jobs eg replace the window panes as the vacuum in the double glaze has gone and it looks like there’s rain on the windows all the time.

Good luck everyone for the coming week! I've high hopes as supposedly my windows are going in, island being templates, bathroom completed and second fix electrics. 🤞 they all happen!

niki26 · 12/12/2021 21:13

Exciting week for us - as we are moving into the house on Saturday! Whether it's finished or not! I went to the house yesterday as the shutters were being fitted and got a couple of pics. That's the living room and the pink room is my 6 year old daughters room!

Looks lovely @niki26

I’ve chosen a very very very pale pink for the kitchen called Lip Gloss. It’s amusing me greatly as DH would die if he knew the name of the colour but I’m not sure he’ll even realise it’s pink

I joined the last thread then forgot to update. Story of my life. Have ordered our kitchen (b&q in the end) and crittall style doors, and today ground has been broken outside. They are starting with soak aways. Builder is planning on being first fix done by late February. We shall see!

Some amazing images on here. I'm bloody terrified of the next few weeks but it is so nice to see results.

I will be watching your story, hoping I can join you soon! Planning and builder decisions will be made by next week. Hope all the foundations go well for you!
LimpLettice · 13/12/2021 13:11

@GardensandGrandDesigns thank you! The toddlers are obsessed with the digger which is cute today. Will be less so as the weeks go on I suspect. It's a reasonably big job - extending current kitchen and lounge diner into large kitchen diner + snug, then adding en-suite, dressing area and utility to the back of the office to have a downstairs suite. Old utility becomes new office. It's basically squaring off a box with some added internal walls and one to come down, but I am sure architect and builders have pulled me into a false sense of security 🙄

Indecisivelurcher · 13/12/2021 13:46

No sign of any electricians here today again. Just waiting for them to fit 1 switch, plug in my lantern roof led, and under cabinet lights. It seems like the end of the build is much like the start, no one turns up because they're busy on the more active projects! Other outstanding job is to sort the guttering, it's currently emptying into a bucket.

That sounds amazing. We are extending our lounge diner too to do similar. We are converting the garage for the utility, office, downstairs toilet space and a new bedroom upstairs plus we are moving the stairs, installing ufh and removing the chimney 🙈🙈🙈

PoshWatchShitShoes · 13/12/2021 15:11

Where the fuck are the plasterers!!?! Assholes. They're coming tomorrow apparently which causes massive fucking drama with Picasso 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

I have bedroom wallpaper which looks pretty, so that's good. Carpet being fitted in here next Monday 👏

Must order sockets and switches today 😂

Looks lovely @niki26 🤩

WithCatLikeTread · 13/12/2021 15:40

Nice wallpaper!

Not a lot happening here today either, I’ve been out most of the day and can’t see anything has changed but the boss guy came by earlier and they are going to move into the area that is currently the TV room part of the old house that opens into the extension.
So need to move the tv into the front room (along with a chest freezer, fridge, table & chairs, old sofas, shelves full of all sorts and random boxes of packed up stuff!) for this week.

Once they’ve laid the UFH we can move back in there before Christmas ideally.
And also we can start moving stuff out into the new kitchen yey! Ready for them to start attacking the old one in January.

Callmejudith · 13/12/2021 15:56

@LimpLettice sounds fab!

@Indecisivelurcher yep we're going the same way. Our boiler has a pipe which goes into a bucket too. The glamour.

Decorator has done the mist coat today it makes SUCH a difference I'm delighted. I was getting worried about it being gloomy in there but I can see now once painted it'll be fab and bright.

That's very pretty, @PoshWatchShitShoes

@GardensandGrandDesigns that sounds like a huge job. I'm dreading so much of this with toddlers at home, but hopefully we can keep a separate space without too much trauma. They broke the drainage for washing machine and dishwasher today, which was supposed to stay connected til January, so there's a start 😂

Oh blimey! Not the best start! At least the diggers were entertainment!
Callmejudith · 13/12/2021 17:07

@PoshWatchShitShoes that's lovely. I'm really considering wallpaper for the hallway. So much choice though

PoshWatchShitShoes · 13/12/2021 18:37

Yay @Callmejudith. You must be delighted. Looks so fresh and bright 😊

So in terms of timing:

Plasterers tomorrow
Front door and internal windows Wednesday
Staircase being finished Wednesday
Decorating and plumbing continuing all week
Bedroom and landing carpet fitted next Monday
Fireplace and surround next Monday

Trying to book carpet cleaners for bedrooms and I think I'm going to do the upstairs post build clean myself next Tuesday.

And I just got good news that my fitted wardrobes will be here first week of February (2 months early 👏)

PoshWatchShitShoes · 13/12/2021 18:43

Is everyone at home for Christmas?

I don't think we'll make it. Might just be ready with the builders gone, but there's no time to scrub every surface clean and then get everything out of storage and back in the right place!! So I think I need to resign myself to a nomad Christmas.

So annoyed that the DC stockings and Christmas jumpers are somewhere in storage...because we were meant to be back home 6 weeks before Christmas 🤦🏼‍♀️

Can I just add a "fucking plasterers, asshole plumber, ridiculous staircase joiner person, shitty window woman"??! 😆 They're all to blame for the delays.

Callmejudith · 13/12/2021 18:44

Everything crossed they all happen Posh!!

We have my parents and my brother and SIL for Xmas and I’m hopeful that the kitchen will be looking good. They’ll be a lot of messiness in the rest of the house still but I will be definitely enjoying the new space

OP posts:
MissFritton65 · 13/12/2021 23:11

We are home for Christmas and our 2 grown up children are coming home. We currently don't have a kitchen and only 1 useable bedroom and bathroom plus no heating or lighting in any other rooms. Hopefully this situation will improve in the next week although I noticed today a leak across the new kitchen ceiling that was painted last week!
FFS another example of 1 step forward and 2 back so frustrating especially as I'm paying decorator.

niki26 · 14/12/2021 00:32

@PoshWatchShitShoes we are moving in on Saturday - my husband said tonight he's worried our contractor will be behind. I said well he needs to make sensible decisions!!! Changing some of the sockets to chrome from white can be done when we are in.... painting the last coat of downstairs should probably be done prior to us moving in!!

I know I'm being massively unrealistic but I really really hope I can locate and put decs up Sunday/Monday ......
