Self cleaning oven - worth getting or not

Hello, I am designing my kitchen and I wonder if self cleaning oven is worth the price tag? I have never used one myself.

Ovens come at such a wide range, for the same size Neff double oven, manual cleaning is about £700, assisted cleaning is about £1000, self cleaning is £1500. I know expensive ones come with other features too, just wonder if it's worth spending that money.

Another question, are microwave grill/ovens or steam ovens worth getting? A 36L oven will cost around £1000-1400.
I am tempted to get a steam oven, but it seems the steam function make the life of the oven rather short?

Thank you.

Depends on what and how often you cook I would say. Lamb roast every week then yes, beneficial. The odd cake now and then. Probably not.

If you keep on top of cleaning a normal oven, it won’t get that bad. Let’s say your new oven will last 5 years, it’s 800 quid extra for the cleaning function… just over £13 a month. Would you pay £13 a month for someone to clean your oven? That’s what would help me decide.

I have a neff oven with self clean, you can’t set the self clean with the racks in mine so I still take those out and oven pride them. but it cleans the inside brilliantly just burns everything off and you wipe the ash out with a paper towel. Sorted!

I have the Neff Pyrolitic oven and it's brilliant. I think it is totally worth it. As PP said though it depends on how often and what you cook. I also have the Neff combi oven which includes microwave and I wouldn't be without it. I can't comment on steam ovens though.

Definitely worth having a self cleaning oven IMO. The added cost was worth every penny to me. I switched to an induction hob at the same time. Much quicker to clean the kitchen now.

I haven't used the pyrolitic clean on the main oven yet, but I used to pay a man £60 twice a year to clean the old one.

We also have a combi microwave - haven't really used it as a combi but microwave is fine and having an additional oven is great.

I do rather wish I had a separate microwave still though - as sometimes you just want to microwave something and both ovens are full and in use.
