If and when it is okay to do this

Moving house in 8 weeks and would like to start ordering some bits and pieces, most important thing being new sofas.

Is it the norm to ask the sellers for another visit to take measurements? Or ask them to take measurements?

Yes it's fine to ask to view again to take measurements - however, our buyers came about 4 times using the "just need to measure up for..." excuse and each time they were accompanied by various and different relatives - but we didn't really mind as they are lovely people.

I always find folks who think one or two visits is the max when spending this amount of money, for me a visit to measure up is noth fine and understandable.

Totally fine, we asked for a third visit for this reason.

Our buyers came around about four times to measure! It was a bit of a pain, tbh, but a) they were really nice people and b) we wanted to sell the house, so we weren't going to make too much of a fuss! Absolutely fine to ask

Would round about now be okay? Or too soon?

If you're buying until you've exchanged contracts I wouldn't do anything as the purchase could fall through.

I’ve moved house loads, it’s fine to request a measuring up visit. I personally don’t as I like to stay a bit more at arms length in case anything goes wrong! I don’t like to get my hopes up, it’s all fallen thru for us a few times. Weird I know. Until exchange, anything can happen.

So personally I wouldn’t order furniture either.
