Electrician question

I am considering converting a shed into a garden workspace, but among other things, I’d need power out there. We’re pretty handy and can do most of the things we’d need to do ourselves, just as damp proofing, insulation and so on. But the electrics definitely seem like a job for the professionals - particularly as I would have clients out there with me. I feel frying one would lead to poor reviews on Google Grin

So, engaging the hive mind - what would a ballpark figure be for running electrics to a shed and fitting, say, a double socket and a ceiling light? Perhaps also an outside light for the winter months?

Price will depend on exactly what needs doing.

How far away is the shed? You will need to dig a trench or possibly (depending on layout) clip it to a wall. Trench will need backfilling with gravel most likely.

How much power will you need? The price of cable can be expensive and more power = more expensive cable. Longer distance = voltage drop = thicker cable.

Where is your consumer unit? You will most need to run a cable from there.

Just too many variables here to guess a price.

Fair enough - I can’t answer all of those questions but now at least I know I need to ask them! Thank you Smile
