Tiling a metal floored balcony ?

Live in a flat, with a metal (painted) floored balcony. Considering tiling it - as some neighbours in the black have done - but I also see that in some cases, some tiles have come unstuck (the balcony is south facing, and gets a lot of heat in the summer). Are tiles onto exposed metal such as this workable ?

You will have great difficulty amking them stick due, as you point out to differential expansion Look at flexible tile fixitive and grouts and ask the technical guy at the shop what chance is there realistically of this sticking on a south facing ...............
Alternatively just simply loose place them without fixing and without grout but cut very carefully to fit the edge away from the flat wall.

Loose fixing, good idea I hadn't thought of ! And there's a rim around the balcony edge that would keep them in place, and prevent them falling.

Gives you the chance to change them easily if you start to hate them !!!!!
Good Luck

Tiles may get very slippery when wet.
Could you consider something like these rubber interlocking ones ?
