I'm looking for a really soft gentle color to go on a wall with a large window with a lovley view of sky and trees.

I'm looking at Cromarty /mizzle.
In some pics it looks perfect but in others also mint green.
My cabinet are a greige.. Mushroom.. Type and some are pale blue.
I want to inject soft colour. My beloved colours are greeny blue greys

Pavilion Grey presents as blue grey in my house. Might be a nice soft colour for you.

TheQueenOfProcrastination · 14/11/2021 13:12

Mizzle is gorgeous, and not at all minty. More bluey-greeny.

LemonSwan · 14/11/2021 13:15

Shadow white and shaded white have olive undertones. They are my favourite softs.

Both Cromarty and mizzle are SO light dependent. We had Cromarty in our last lounge and it was definitely a lovely soft blue. Mizzle looked really sage green in that room but doesn’t in differently directed rooms! All F&B colours I’ve tried have looked vastly different in different rooms. I’d get a few little sample pots (Johnson’s will mix in their own brand) and paint bits of MDF to lean up against the wall.

I’ve just read you have some pale blue cabs. I’d definitely recommend a board test in that case as some blues will clash with other blues. We personally tend to go darker on furniture and white on walls to stop clashes, my kitchen is Treron, bathroom is Pigeon (gorgeous colour!) and the living room is Off Black but all the walls so far are either white or paler grey.

Good to ideas thanks, the kictehn is small but has two larger windows.
I'd love a colour that complements the sky and garden

@LemonSwan
Im thinking of using that shaded or shadow on the wood work

Shadow White looks pale green in my house... A lighter version of Old White, which is definitely green.

Naughtynovembertree · 14/11/2021 20:12

Oh lovely, I'm seeing lots of these muted coulor where white would be and I love them in pubs and also strangely Hampton Court!

Oval room blue / green smoke depending on blue/ green preference

MonsteraDeliciosa · 15/11/2021 13:13

My kitchen cabinets are painted mizzle, and I think it looks gorgeous. They have a lot of light on them and I would describe the appearance as sage-grey, not minty!

minipie · 15/11/2021 13:46

You do need samples I’m afraid as these colours will look totally different in different rooms - and you definitely need to check how they look next to the cabinet colours.

F&B do a colour wheel with samples around 10cm x 5cm, I think it’s about £16, much cheaper than shelling out for lots of tester pots.

Oval room blue is lovely but very light dependent - it can be almost green and very blue.

I have Parma Grey in my sitting room and that is definitely blue when on. Also remember that blue tones intensify the more blue there is around them.

Naughtynovembertree · 15/11/2021 21:11

Ginger that definitely looks like mint to me

A farrow and ball colour wheel!!

Does anyone know how to buy say shadow white wood paint but in a smaller tin ie less than £70??+

Do brewers or places like that colour match into wood paint, I only need a small tin really.

@MonsteraDeliciosa

Would a small pic be possible, of say teeny bit of cabinet with another colour so I can see eg cupboard handle or the wall or floor?

@Naughtynovembertree your wish is my command Wink

Trouble is, though, the colour may not appear exactly as it does "in the flesh", so to speak, as it will be affected by camera, screens etc.
Anyway, I hope it gives you at least an idea of "Mizzle".

Dd has Tranquil Dawn in her bedroom. It definitely isn't mint. In some lights it's sage green and in other lights its more grey.

Comefromaway · 17/11/2021 14:35

I just tried to photograph it but the camera washes out the colour.

Naughtynovembertree · 17/11/2021 15:23

Oh thats so kind thank you.
It's extraordinary really how pale it looks there, beautiful but pale!
Lovely cabinet too.
