Boring Boiler Installation Question

We have an oldish house which we bought without central heating. (Immersion heater, but no boiler) About 11 years ago we had CH installed along with a gas combi boiler. This was done by a local firm of heating engineers. The boiler is now starting to fail - eg needing expensive parts - and the local firm has given us a quote for a new one.

There are now lots of online firms which do quotes for boiler installation and they seem to be a good deal cheaper. The only thing is that because they subcontract to different engineers, customer satisfaction can be a bit variable and I can see reviews which say that problems haven't always been sorted immediately,

But the saving in going this way, would be substantial - around £900.

Unsure whether to try and negotiate with local firm. I don't really like haggling. Or contact one of the online installers. Any thoughts? Recommendations re online installation firms even???

I'd always go with a personal recommendation for a real life tradesperson.

We had our last boiler fitted and supplied by British Gas who did sub contract, however the work is guaranteed for 5 years and we got a couple of years free home care, and as we paid using their 2 year interest free option, we were happy to pay a bit more than a independent might have charged for the peace of mind knowing if anything went wrong they would have to fix it!
