When to give notice moving out before 6 months

We need to move out of our rental after 3 months, mid Jan, when the break clause is at 6 months, mid April. A house sale went through much quicker than expected and we're desperate to move out, as this house doesn't work for us.

We fully expect to end up paying the full 6 months, that's ok. However, I'm worried we could get charged more or told we must stay/are in breach if we leave.

Is it best to a. Be honest and tell them now that we need to leave mid Jan, they can re-rent or

b. Give notice in February at the 4 month point and pretend we're staying the full 6 months. We would come back and check on the property.

For option b. note our contract says we shouldn't leave the property empty over 1 month so I'm not entirely comfortable although it isn't a bad area.

Any experience of this?

Just be honest.

Agree, be honest, you might have to pay the 6 months which is annoying but best they occupy it as I'd be annoyed if you weren't there and didn't tell me
