Ring Door Bell/ home security

Hi mumsnetters can I ask if any of you have the ring door bell? I'm currently in the house alone most of the time, mostly due to working from home or being here with my 2yo grandson while my 16yo DS is at school and my other 18yo DS is in uni and I want to get some security in the house, I dont want to be answering the door to strangers ESPECIALLY on dark winter nights, also id like to be notified when someone is at my door when I'm away from the house, id also like some indoor security but im on a tight budget and want to get the best value for my money, I dont want to have to pay monthly fees but would like to check on my house (inside) when I'm out aswell. All advice GREATLY appreciated 🙏 TIA

@Redglitter thanks a mill I just ordered the hardwired ring bell and chime got it on sale for €79 so happy days your neighbour spends half her life walking up and down the path well that gave me a good laugh

This may be a stupid question, but people saying they get the notification on their phone - would I be right in presuming you'd have to choose one phone, so dh and I couldn't both have it ?

@Kite22 no our whole household get the notifications! You just add them all to the account

Just make sure you set the parameters for detection widely enough. My car got wiped out on our drive by a hit and run but unbeknownst to me my DH had adjusted the ring's view a few weeks before (vans kept setting it off) and so it missed the bastard who took out my car! Argh!

Great thread as I am looking at getting one on Black Friday

Does anyone have any experience of the other Ring cameras? We are looking for a camera for the corner/side of the house to keep an eye on our vehicles. Is the Ring a bit of a novelty item or would this be what we are after? I do like the idea of getting a Ring one so I can have everything the same with planning to get the doorbell soon.

Does anyone have any experience with Eufy?

@Mylittlesecret10021 I don't know why it caught fire. The fire service thinks it might be an electrical fault. I've watched the footage from the doorbell camera several times and it looks like it was smoking from under the bonnet ever so slightly when I parked it. 4 minutes later it was on fire! By the time the fire service had arrived it was fully ablaze and I was terrified it was going to explode on the driveway.

@Yayalala that sounds so scary!! Anyway glad this footage has helped. I’m looking at the same so will wait for Black Friday and buy one. Amazon are bringing their own out soon too.

To all who thanked for starting the thread no problem at all, I didn't think there would be this much interest, I just think on these dark evenings especially its good to know who's at or has been at your door/around your property,especially when in at home with the kids /grandson especially, hopefully fingers crossed its never anyone with bad intentions 🙏🤞 and thanks for asking the question about does the whole family get notifications, also thank you about the info about the court case, but I presume im entitled to a certain extent to make sure as much of my property as possible is covered but I have checked with neighbours anyway not that they will be really in view of the camera, thanks so much all
