Tiles - where from and how much

Hi,

Looking for some advice on tiles. I’m looking to have about 130m sq tiled, including kitchen, living, hallway and 3 bathrooms.
The quote I have had from the builder seems quite steep. Labour is around £84 per sq.m. The tiles themselves are coming in at around £30-£38 per sq.m, as there are a few different types.
If you recently had tiling done, how much did you pay for labour. And where did you source your tiles from, any recommendations please?

Thanks

Can’t give you costs but I would try and find a reputable tiler rather than a builder. Can the place your buying the tiles from not recommend a tiler they use?

The builder who is doing everything else including kitchen fitting and bathrooms is also fitting the tiles. It made sense to use the same person, but the tile fitting price seems quite high. In terms of tilers, they’re not hard to find, I just want an idea of what other people have paid recently to get an idea of cost.
For the tiles, again list of choice out there for porcelain tiles but just want to check if people would recommend any large suppliers/websites/stores.

I recently got these bathroom tiles, site with excellent customer service and speedy delivery – to doorstep, not kerbside: www.tilemountain.co.uk/p/village-emerald-green-wall-tile.html

And these in the kitchen, also brill: www.claybrookstudio.co.uk/potters-glaze-leach.html

Labour I can’t really say as both were part of the larger refurb so it was all-in.

Around here (SE, not London) tiling is £40-50 psm for labour. Some variations for complex patterns, very small or hard to work with tiles, maybe an additional cost if it requires sealing etc.

We tend to do our own tiling. Family who have had general builders or plumbers do theirs have had jobs done that I'd not have tolerated. OH got a tiler to do some work on floors at the village hall, he did a splendid job (and it was a tricky one too, fitting new floor tiles in with old ones).
I 'd think about getting a specialist tiler.
