Neighbour smoking weed -coming through walls

Hi All,

My neighbour smokes weed and the smell is coming through the walls. Our house is a semi detached house. Said neighbour also screams and shouts and sounds like he smashes things against the wall and floor. There is a little child that comes abd goes (around 7 years old) and dogs.

I am a bit concerned with the screaming and swearing and throwing against the wall and the weed smell. I do think from their side the wall is crumbling as I heard crumbling brick/plaster noises. The front garden is unkept and windows etc havent been cleaned or any attention for years (single glazed etc).

Any ideas?

Ring 999 if you hear things smashing and shouting definitely!

Well call the police obviously, when the screaming, smashing and shouting starts.

On what basis though? I have no 'evidence' and throwing things against your own wall isnt really an offence. There is an older woman and a younger woman also at the property. Just reallt strange, something is definitely off about them

Could it be they have a cannabis farm? I think the smell from them can be quite strong.

By ringing the police

Call the police as soon as the screaming, shouting and smashing starts, tell them your concerned for the child or others who live there and they'll probably come and do a check.
If the cannabis smell is that strong it's coming through the walls then the police will smell it as soon as they knock the door.

I'd report as a suspected cannabis farm to the police. They may be aware already. Tell them a young child is involved. Follow is up 2~3 times also by email

Thank you, this is very helpful information. I will definitely call as the aggression is quitw scary. Esp when there is a child coming and going. There are dogs also in the property that I have never seen being taken for a walk.

You can also call the police non-emergency number. Think it's 101. But whatever you do don't get involved yourself and let the police handle it.
Cannabis farms need a lot of electricity as the plants need light. They could have all sorts of dodgy electrics in there. You really don't want to be their neighbour!

Smell coming through the walls does not mean they are growing weed. The stuff stinks everything out just by the smoking of it.

Presumably they don’t own the house? Find out who owns the property via Land Registry and write to them to let them know (they should have a separate contact address to the property) or contact the Housing Association/Council who lets it to them.
