Hi!
Could anyone tell me where to live in Cambridge? Looking for a quietish area for a young family.
And places to avoid? Thankyou 🙂

Does it have to be actually in Cambridge? Or just near?

Where to live in Cambridge for a family?

Hope you've got 750k in the bank!

We work in Cambridge and the closest we could afford was a village 10 miles outside.

If I could live anywhere in the whole world, I would live in Newnham Village. I love Cambridge and love this beautiful bit of it most of all. It's a short walk to the centre of the city, across beautiful meadows, and a short walk to Granchester too.

Some family members live in Cambridge, not far from Arbury (full-time professional salaries and they bought years ago - it's pricey). They like it though. CB4.

Renting in Chesterton at the moment, perfect, but not many houses for sale here at the moment.
Can anyone recommend somewhere similar, about the same-ish distance from the city ideally! Thanks!

I would second the vote for Newnham on location. But it’s super expensive and many of the houses are pokey.

If you’ve been in Chesterton consider Trumpington. Yes it’s probably further out from the centre but the cycle routes in are much better imo. Also clay farm development has been on the go long enough that it’s starting to get a real sense of community.

Histon is fab. What is your budget? I like Chesterton for ease of access to green spaces, river and town. Parts of arbury are nice (Gilbert road end) as is Huntingdon road. If money isn't an issue I'd buy in new ham next to Lammas land with good access to grantchester.
Personally I don't like the new builds in trumpington (too boxy).

Another vote for Histon/Impington.
