Please recommend your loo to me!

Please help! I need to replace the loo. I need one which sits on the floor, not a wall-hanging one. If it has water-saving properties that's a plus. I do like a robust flush mechanism, not a flimsy button.

Do you like your loo? Is it easy to clean? Is it easy to unblock, when the need arises? Has the flush ever broken?

Please recommend me your loos! Or warn me off stinkers. Thank you.

Avoid a square one. A round bum, even one that’s on the small side, does not fit comfortably in a square hole.
I hate the toilets in this house.

ArcheryAnnie · 31/10/2021 21:56

....I would not have thought of that, thank you!

2 loos here, both with buttons. Ideal Standard and Roka.

Let's just say that Roka is for wees only.

We have the rak resort mini. We liked it so much we got it in all bathrooms.

agree with pp. We have square-ish ones. They look gorgeous, and contrary to pp's reason, I don't notice them being uncomfortable / awkward to sit on but they are awful to clean.

Right, no square ones, no Roka.

Rak resort mini is on the list, though I have never encountered rimless flushes before.

Duravit make the best loos.

Both mine are Ideal standard and both plain white and a basic style that has stood the test of time. One is standard the other built in, both are over ten years old.

Both have only had the push button (water savers) replaced one each in that time.

One has had a new sear which came from John Lewis and was a perfect fit.

Both are good quality porcelain and easy to clean.

Neither have ever blocked.

Both still look like new.

Rimless and round - best for cleaning, and comfort.

The seat needs to be heavy and v good quality.

A concealed cistern with a button is also nest for neatness/cleaning. But make sure the button is high enough that still accessible when the seat is up.

Lusso Stone has the most amazing stuff and in a lot of cases it's not more expensive that standard plumbing merchants' supply.

Don't baulk at £350 for a loo. I found that really hard to accept, but actually it's the most used item in the house so worth £350 not £150.

I help lots of people source their bathrooms and I've been through all the Victorian Plumbing/Victoria Plum/Best Bathrooms/going to fancy showrooms/getting what the merchants have off the shelf etc. options and .....

.... then one client had Lusso Stone and I was like omg dreamworld. Beautiful stuff. Really worth it.

That is my humble opinion.

Please recommend your loo to me!
