Anyone got a marble look laminate worktop?

I’d love real marble or quartz but not an option at the mo. There are a few fake marble laminates around now, the IKEA one looks good as it’s a bit narrower so a bit more realistic. B&Q have one that is v cheap. Does anyone have one they can recommend? How does it hold up to stains?

Topshape do a square edged laminate that looks good, it comes in a thinner version too rather than just the standard 40mm

That looks great Issey, how is it with stains? Is it square edge?

hi yes its the square edge but the laminate is wrapped over the front not a separate strip and glued down and it doesn't seem to stain i've dropped curry sauce and all sorts on it i just spray and wipe it straight away

Hello Issey can I ask who fitted the worktop? - I’m hoping to get Duropal too in my new kitchen, but my builder is worried he’ll make a hash of it and has asked me to find an experienced Duropal fitter.

That sounds perfect! Did you order online? Did you see a sample first?

we got it from DIY kitchen with our kitchen and my son in law whos a cabinet maker installed the whole thing units and worktops duropal isnt any harder to install than other laminate worktops any carpenter or joiner would be able to do them the tricky bit on ours was it goes round a corner and getting the seam was the only bit that was tricky and bless him my son in law did a fantastic job

i think DIY kitchens will send you samples we went to the showroom as we live near enough price wise was £145 for each worktop we needed two

whataboutbob · 31/10/2021 15:24

Thanks issey. Your son in law doesn’t live in kent does he?

Oh well, but thanks so much for the tip I’ll look for a joiner or carpenter. I’m a member of Which? So will look at their trusted traders.
