Recommendations for movers - SE London?

Any recommendations for good moving companies in Southeast London?

We're only moving a relatively short distance within the Lewisham area and it won't be a big job but we'd rather entrust the heavy lifting to the pros rather than doing it ourselves...

We just used Cornerstone (a couple of weeks ago) and were happy with both the packing and removal service.

We used Harradines a few months ago, and rated them, very efficient, very fast, not too pricey!

James Removals. SE3

Second vote for Harradines. We moved last year and they were great, cheaper than James Removals too.

BigDipperMama · 29/10/2021 13:01

We used a lovely small family firm called Hinks Removals, based in Lewisham. They came in at about half the cost of Harradines and the like (they looked great, btw but those prices!) Hinks did a great job, packed all our stuff the day before, and put beds etc back together on the other side.

We have used M25 movers twice, three years apart, once for a move across London and the second time for a short move within SE London (for the full packing and moving service both times). Super efficient and moved everything very carefully. Negotiated our slightly too huge sofas and headboards through narrow Victorian terraced houses. Absolutely brilliant.

We used Robert's and Dennys and they were good and reasonably priced.

Thanks everyone for suggestions on this.

Bumping this again because I've had a couple of quotes and they are eye-watering (£1500 incl. VAT from one firm!). Considering that we're only moving about a mile and from a rented flat with only a few furniture items of our own (it's mostly clothes, books, kitchen things that need moving, plus a couple of chests of drawers and a bed) that seems way in excess of what I'd expected.

Arranging video surveys with a couple of other firms to get quotes from them. What sort of cost should we be expecting here? Wondering whether it'd be easier just to hire a man with a van, though we'd prefer a proper removal firm ideally because of packing services, insurance and so on.

We used James removals. Really good.

7 years ago though and moved from a 4 bed terraced to a larger house about 20mins away. It cost us £2300 with packing. But I would expect that to have gone up considerably so £1500 all up probably what it costs??

Doubleraspberry · 11/11/2021 14:07

Robert's and Dennys were good for us.

SD25 · 11/11/2021 15:37

That sounds about right if they're packing.

drinkwithanumbrellainit · 11/11/2021 20:32

Our two cheapest quotes were Robert's and Dennys and Caseys.

dandydear · 11/11/2021 21:41

Roberts and Dennies were absolutely awful in our experience

Titsywoo · 11/11/2021 21:49

James Removals were really good for us.

Bunny2021 · 11/11/2021 22:13

Kiwi movers. They were so reasonable and professional. We’ve recommended them so many times and friends and family have all used them since.

SuperbOwls · 11/11/2021 22:19

We used harradines. They were great.

Can't remember the cost of it now but they did it all on the morning of the move to save us some money. The packing bit does add to the cost but it felt very worth it.

caringcarer · 11/11/2021 22:47

Before we had kids we moved from a flat to a 2 bedroom house about 2 miles away and hired a van and did it ourselves with help of bil.
