Does a patio add value?

Back garden is flat and enclosed by fence, relatively private. It has grass but no patio or obvious seating area and no shed. Owner plans to stay no more than 5 years and never uses the garden.
Is it worth putting in a shed and patio, would the cost be recouped?
It would cost around £4k and the house, a 3 bed semi, is currently worth around 150K

Probably not, though I’m no expert. A well kept, non-neglected garden would add some value or appeal. If you wanted to demonstrate “hey you can sit out here in the summer” they could just put a small nice cheap table and chair set out on the grass when it came time to sell.
