How long until we can complete?

Hello,

We have been trying to buy a house and had all sorts of issues. We had an offer accepted in August, all searches are back and mortgage is in place. The vendor has given us a date of 5th November but our solicitor said today that was optimistic. I have asked what is outstanding but won't hear back until Monday now. We were hoping to exchange next week which gives us a week between exchange and completion.

Is there something I am not thinking of?

Probably someone else in the chain? The vendors ongoing purchase? If you have everything ready then it's the other side, but it could be anything so you'll have to wait til Monday.

The vendor set the date for completion as 5th. We were hoping to be in by December so it isn't a huge problem. I am just keen to get in now. We had a purchase fall apart this time last year and it has all been quite stressful.
