Loft conversion.

Currently in a three bed, one bathroom terraced house. One bedroom is very small.

Will be selling up in a couple of years to downsize for retirement.

Question is do we add a loft conversion, one bedroom with en-suite shower room? Is it worth the investment and hassle or just keep our money?

I wouldn't bother if you're going to sell up in a couple of years and don't need the space at the moment. It's a lot of hassle, mess and expense, and there's no guarantee you'll recoup the cost.

How can anyone say without more details. How much is your house valued at? What is the ceiling price in your area? What is sq.ft of your loft?

We did it but we had children who were getting older and needed more room. I wouldn’t have gone through it without the reason though. We just would have paid off the mortgage earlier or saved the money otherwise.

Don't bother if selling up soon. It's not just the cost but the hassle factor.
