Landlord selling

I've been in rented for 8 years with an amazing landlord and was gutted to get an email two weeks ago to say he is selling the flat. It's a flat in a block of four and the other three flats have a different landlord. My tenancy has run out and he said not to worry as nothing will happen due to the land registry taking a while and he's certain that the other landlord will buy mine and let me stay. He's bound to put the rent up though!! Plus I've heard he's not very good at getting things fixed. I've looked around and there is absolutely nothing within my price range as flats where I live are snapped up immediately. I'm so worried and feel sick all the time it's been my haven for so long, the thought of going somewhere else grotty upsets me so much. Also I feel quite vulnerable as I haven't had to sign a tenancy renewal because he's selling. Anyone else been in same situation ??

In the absence of a new tenancy you are rolled over in the same tenancy so with the same terms. He would still need to give you 2 months notice to leave and if the other landlord doesn't want to buy then it would be at the point he would be likely to give notice and you would be able to see what is available then.

In the absence of a correctly served section 21, the clock hasn't started ticking for your eviction. The Shelter website will arm you with the facts.
There will also be a legal process for the new owner of the flat to follow is you stay.
