Completion day. ?Covid.

Hi all,

This is just me planning for worst case scenario.

I’m due to complete on my house purchase on Friday 22nd. I’m in a rental now, which I will still have access to until the 12th Nov so isolating and a roof over my head aren’t an issue, I won’t need to delay exchange/completion for this.

Yesterday I woke up in absolutely agony with a back injury, got sorted at urgent care and have strong analgesia for that, I thought that was the end of my worries.

This morning I’ve woken with a pounding head, a dry/tickly feeling chest and a runny nose. At the minute I’m still on the fence about whether it’s gonna turn out to be this bad cold or I’m going to end up needing tested for covid. I had covid in Jan and I’m doubly vacc’d so think unlikely to be that again, but not impossible.

If I do turn out to need to isolate, can I send someone else to get the keys for me on completion day? My dad, potentially. Is it allowed?

My dad has gifted part of my deposit so the solicitor has already done ID checks on him and had his bank statements etc, if that counts for anything?

Thanks.

Yes you can.

I sent my Mum and my 15 year old son in June, neither of whom they’d met or checked and my 15 year old went in by himself and told them he was there for the keys for the wrong number house 😂. All fine

Thank you, that puts my mind at ease!

Ask the EA on Monday. They might ask for id, so just be prepared in advance.
