Alternatives to cup handles on pan drawers.

I'm having a shaker kitchen installed in the next few weeks. I'll be having 3 sets of 800mm pan drawers.
I really don't like cup handles, even the ones described as "modern". I'm liking these, www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-oval-cupboard-knob-brass/p3945444but not sure if they'd loo a bit lost? I only want 1 of whatever style I go for.
Does anyone have pan drawers with knobs, rather than pulls?

Can’t see your link but I have several sets of wide pan drawers with a single knob on each. (I also dislike cup handles). I debated bar handles as had the same worry as you, but the knobs look absolutely fine. With modern runners the drawers are very smooth so you don’t need to pull hard.

Ah got your link working. Yes mine are very similar.

That's good to hear! Would you mind posting a pic? Absolutely no worries if not. Thanks for replying.

They are lovely but would drive me demented because they would catch on my sleeves, pocket, etc all.the.time. I have these, love them.

They look fine with a centre knob. It's common to have two knobs on a wide drawer but on proper runners, they pull out OK with one.
It helps to have a knob that isn't too small and that you can get your fingers behind to pull. like these www.yesterhome.com/products/classic-brushed-satin-brass-cupboard-handles-1 they are quite ergonomic .

We've got one knob on our 900mm ones and it works just fine. At work we've got some with two handles and it's a pain as you always need both hands to open a drawer.

I find drawer knobs to be a nuisance- easy to catch yourself on, and fiddly to grab.We have this type- no sharp edges to catch on anything, easy to grab. You can get similar ones in other finishes.

We have knobs on high level cupboards and small base units, but I went for simple handles for the large drawers. I like the mix and match.

We have those on our current kitchen. I fancy something a bit different this time round.

I also have those, and love them. Simple, sleek and unobtrusive.

I am not a fan of cup handles, and I think if you don't live in a period home they look very out of place.

EerilyDisembodied · 12/10/2021 16:23

Ours don't catch at all, they are completely rounded

I do 'catch' on the darn things. This may depend on how tall you are. For example, I get hooked by the sleeve on ordinary room door handles, being small.
minipie · 12/10/2021 18:07

We have these and they don’t catch.

I don’t think those slim handles that attach to the edge would work on a shaker style personally - they’re very minimalist. Also not comfy in the hand.

skippy67 · 12/10/2021 18:18

@minipie, I was just looking at these! Thanks.

My sleeves catch on door handles (I'm 5'4") but in the kitchen the ones on drawers are lower than sleeves/pockets and the high ones are higher.

I'm smaller than you! Agreed kitchen door/drawer knobs don't catch on my sleeve, they catch on other bits of my apparel. But the ones we had were rather sharp edged with an overhang. Almost like malicious hooks looking for trouble.
EerilyDisembodied · 14/10/2021 21:15

This is a close up of ours, they don't snag anything as they are shiny and rounded

I have 900mm pan drawers in the main kitchen, and also in a kitchenette we have in a garden room.

The kitchen ones have a single long bar, and the utility ones have two 30mm brass hexagon knobs. I get on fine with both, and I especially LOVE the hexagon knobs. I'm glad there are two per drawer, it feels more balanced.

Africa2go · 15/10/2021 14:16

We have knobs similar to @EerilyDisembodied. 900mm pan drawers and have 2 on each drawer.

I am all for symmetry so couldn't have different knobs / handles on drawers and base units so I have the same knobs throughout.

CatherineCawood · 15/10/2021 14:19

I have rectangular knobs and I HATE them. I've hit my hands on them so many times. It is so painful. Plus I've caught and ripped clothes on them. Never again.

Furball · 15/10/2021 14:24
I really like these too, although not sure they'd work on a shaker door?plankhardware.com/products/germain-brushed-lip-pull-handle-solid-brass?currency=GBP&variant=31440815816802&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5JSLBhCxARIsAHgO2ScEzC5Rp34k1oHy4FbpJ6-YUGj-xrnrS2RFQtZS7J-XTiTX5o9c7McaAgCfEALw_wcB
I have a silver version of this style and I think they look really good
