Structural survey recommendations please

Hi there,

We need to have a full survey done and I don't know where to start.
I know I can just google it but can anyone recommend a company?
Are they all the same price? Same availability?
Any advice on what to look out for and what to expect from the survey?

If you need a mortgage then make sure you use a company that is approved by your lender. Our buyers failed to do this twice and they had to pay for four surveys.

Thanks @Finfintytint. How do I find out whether a company is approved by our lender? is there a list somewhere on the lender's website?

I’d speak to your lender. I’m sure there’s likely to be something on their website too.

@Finfintytint - can you explain further? Is that just if your mortgage company requests a full survey after the valuation?

We are planning our own survey for peace of mind but it's not been requested for the mortgage. Do they even need to know in this case, let alone approve the surveyor? I'm genuinely confused!

Not sure. I just knew it delayed our sale by ten months because of our buyers failing to check.

My lender recommended a surveyor that I could instruct to do a Homebuyers survey (my lender was happy with a basic valuation for lending purposes).
