Rookie question - how to find the right house?

We are looking for a house to buy but it’s quite a difficult set of criteria. Not because I’m being demanding but because we are trying to buy a house that can either be split into two unequal halves, or where we can build an annexe in the garden. On the budget we have available, it’s possible but pickings are very slim. We won’t be able to move again once we buy as it will be my DM’s forever home, so there’s huge pressure to get it right and not settle.

So here’s the most basic question ever: where do you all look for houses? I promise I’m not as stupid as I sound 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Every day I pounce on RightMove - but when I look at Zoopla, OnTheMarket and Prime Location they all seem the same? Boomin also seems to have the same properties and Mitula is hopelessly out of date.

Are there any other places I should be checking? All the local estate agents seem to list theirs on RightMove anyway so no point checking their own sites. Am I missing anything?

The only other place I can think of is purple bricks?
But you have mentioned all the main ones I check!

Google: house with annex 'town name' for sale

If you're looking in specific areas it may be worth visiting estate agents to talk to them directly - we bought in a pretty fast moving area and our house didn't even make it onto Rightmove
